Gayle Smith
Senior Consultant

Ms. Smith advises the firm’s Africa-related clients. She has an extensive background in the region and has consulted for many leading multinationals with operations in Africa. She previously served as Senior Director for African Affairs at the White House and as a senior adviser to the administrator and chief of staff of the U.S. Agency for International Development. Ms. Smith is an adviser to the U.N. Commission on HIV/AIDS and Governance in Africa, the Center for Global Development's Commission on U.S. Policy Toward Low-Income Poorly Performing States and a Guest Scholar at the Brookings Institution
She is also a Senior fellow at the Center for American Progress.
