PRESS RELEASE STONEBRIDGE APPOINTS NEW COO AND ENHANCES RUSSIA
TEAM WASHINGTON, DC, February 28, 2005 — Stonebridge International, a Washington-based global business strategy firm, today announced the addition of a new Chief Operating Officer, two renowned experts on Russia and a Wall Street veteran. These new appointments support the firm's continued strong growth. Michael J. Warren has joined Stonebridge as Managing Director and Chief
Operating Officer. "These superb additions to our top-notch team will help our clients gain a competitive edge in key markets around the globe," said Samuel R. Berger, Chairman of Stonebridge and former U.S. National Security Adviser. Michael J. Warren came to Stonebridge from Horne Engineering Services, where as Vice President for Corporate Development he led integration of the firm's operations, business development and finances. Previously at McKinsey & Company, he was a strategic consultant in the technology and financial institutions industries and a fellow of the McKinsey Global Institute. Mr. Warren served in the White House as Executive Director of the President's National Economic Council. He also served as President of two technology companies: Limbic Systems, a software services company, and Appfluent Technologies, a database acceleration software company. A Rhodes Scholar, Mr. Warren earned degrees from Yale University and Oxford University. Susan Eisenhower has spent two decades working on U.S. -Russia economic and political cooperation. Ms. Eisenhower has been active in many of the key bodies analyzing bilateral issues, including the Eisenhower Institute and the U.S. National Academy's Committee on International Security and Arms Control. She has counseled Fortune 500 companies on public strategies and communications, including on doing business in the former Soviet Union. A widely published author and public affairs analyst, Ms. Eisenhower's most recent work is Partners in Space: U.S.-Russian Cooperation After the Cold War. She also wrote Breaking Free and Mrs. Ike, which appeared on bestseller lists, and co-authored The Making of a Soviet Scientist. Roald Sagdeev is an internationally recognized physicist and a Distinguished Professor at the University of Maryland. Dr. Sagdeev has played a high-profile role in US-Russian cooperation in science and technology. One of the youngest scientists ever elected to the USSR Academy of Sciences and a leader in the Russian space sector, he also helped shape the transformation of the former Soviet Union during the final years of the Cold War, first as an advisor to President Mikhail Gorbachev and then as a reformer in the Congress of People's Deputies. He has continued to play an active role in U.S.-Russian and US-Central Asian relations, where he advises many of those countries' leaders on development and growth issues. Stonebridge Vice Chairman H.P. Goldfield, a veteran of the Reagan White House and Commerce Department, commented, "Susan Eisenhower and Roald Sagdeev bring clients unique expertise and relationships in Russia and the CIS. Robert Swindell joins Stonebridge after a successful career as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers. His primary industry focus was the security, communications and services sectors, and he also headed the Global Consumer and Debt Capital Markets Groups. Mr. Swindell has extensive capital markets and corporate finance experience, having initiated or executed over 200 transactions in all product areas. He also is President and CEO of Civitas Group, a strategic advisory and investment services firm serving the homeland and national security markets, founded as a joint-venture by Stonebridge and the WPP Group's BKSH & Associates.
