PRESS RELEASE PETE PETERSON, FORMER U.S. AMBASSADOR TO VIETNAM,
JOINS STONEBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL AS SENIOR DIRECTO WASHINGTON, DC, Friday, March 15, 2002 — Stonebridge International LLC announced today that Pete Peterson, America’s first post-war Ambassador to Vietnam, has joined the firm as Senior Director. Peterson will advise and assist businesses on building opportunities and solving problems in Southeast Asia. “Pete brings unparalleled knowledge of emerging markets like Vietnam and the complex business environment faced by multinational corporations seeking to do business in Southeast Asia,” said Samuel R. Berger, former National Security Adviser and Chairman of Stonebridge International. As a Senior Director, Peterson joins Stonebridge’s prestigious team of business leaders, scholars and former government officials who have served five administrations, both Republican and Democrat. Other Senior Directors include: former Ambassador Richard Morningstar (European Union), Ambassador Richard Celeste (India), Under Secretary of State Peter Tarnoff, and National Security Council Senior Director Kenneth Lieberthal (China). Ambassador Douglas “Pete” Peterson served as U.S. Ambassador to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from 1997 to 2001, opening that key market to U.S. business. Prior to his diplomatic posting, Peterson served three terms as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing the 2nd District of Florida, where he was a member of the House Appropriations Committee and deeply engaged in international relations, national defense and health matters. His previous public service also includes 26 years in the U.S. Air Force, during which he was a distinguished combat veteran and a prisoner of war in Vietnam.
