SENATOR WARREN RUDMAN TO CHAIR STONEBRIDGE -- SANDY BERGER ON MEDICAL LEAVE

WASHINGTON, DC — Samuel R. “Sandy” Berger, Chairman of Washington-based global strategic consulting firm Stonebridge International and formerly National Security Advisor to President Clinton, will be taking a leave from the firm to deal with a recently diagnosed medical condition. Former U.S. Senator Warren Rudman (R-NH), a member of the Stonebridge Board of Advisors from its inception in 2001, will serve in the interim as Chairman.

Mr. Berger suffers from an acoustic neuroma—a tumor on the acoustic nerve leading to the brain that causes dizziness, balance problems, potential hearing loss and other complications. He has been advised by his physicians that the tumor is benign and that a full recovery can be anticipated but that surgery may be required.

Rudman served two terms in the U.S. Senate as a Republican representing New Hampshire. He also was Chairman of the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, Co-Chair of the U.S. Commission on National Security and is co-founder of the Concord Coalition. He serves on the boards of directors of several leading companies
